Lloyd Evans Prichard was appointed in 2005 to refurbish and repair many of the structures within the privately owned park including the Ha-Ha, Lodges and Estate Entrances along with the consolidation of a crumbling folly.
The ha-ha wall is complete and comprises a third of a mile of 1800 mm high brickwork laid in lime mortar to an English Garden wall bond. Options were considered for a traditional stepped cross section brickwork wall and a concrete back-up construction. The latter was adopted as an affordance option.
Both lodges comprise twin structures flanking the entrance drives. These Victorian structures are of brickwork faced in render to imitate stone finished with limestone dressings and cast iron gates. The buildings were severely dilapidated and roofless. Planning permission and listed building consent have been received for reconstruction and extension to provide two dwellings at each gate.
Work involved the removal of cementitious materials, replacement of stonework damaged by iron cramps, new lead roll and slate roofs and windows carefully reflecting the designs of the originals.
