Sefton Park is Liverpool's largest Victorian urban park and was designed by Edouard Andre, a noted French landscape architect in 1872. Local architect Louis Hornblower who had collaborated with Sir Joseph Paxton at Birkenhead some thirty years earlier was also engaged on the project.
The park contains a number of notable listed structures which include memorials to local dignitaries, a bandstand, and the Shaftesbury Fountain cast from the same moulds as the famous Eros fountain in London's Piccadilly Circus.
In addition to the individual conservation and repair of each historic structure the regeneration of the park includes the enhancement of existing visitor and management facilities. LEP have been appointed to design modern additions to the Aviary Café and a new boathouse café.
